The short film focuses on Bhavna’s experience of growing up as the daughter of an Indian mother and explores themes of heritage, cultural and familial expectation and race. Runners Up Funmi B, BA Product and Industrial DesignFunmi’s project, Eso Extensions, are plant-based hair extensions made from pineapple fibre. They offer a safer alternative to petroleum-based hair extensions, which have been linked to cancer. The extensions utilise natural softeners, plant-based dyes and pineapple leaves – which are often discarded – promoting a healthier body and environment.Joshua Obichere, MA Fine ArtJoshua’s work challenges the way the viewer sees Black masculinity when faced with the colonial history and realities of the Black male body. It’s an installation piece in the form of a skeletal timber ship, incorporating sound, performance, a painting as a sail and an embroidery piece, displayed separately.Patrick Garvey, BA Fashion (Knit)‘Crystalline’ is inspired by Catholic guilt and Rococo imagery from Patrick’s Irish upbringing and time as an altar boy, merging traditional Catholicism with modern spirituality. Utilising a unique crystallisation process developed over two years, Patrick create ‘embroidered’ knits that symbolise a new spiritual connection through crystals.The NOVA Regeneration Award, sponsored by , Izzy Mccormac, BA Fashion (Womenswear)Izzy’s collection, ‘I AM REALLY A KITE’, captures the joy and freedom of the British seaside, using paper to create six looks that challenge traditional garment design. What's your 'wild side'? BA Graphic Communication Design student, Takaya Sage, is the winner of this year's Beer Can Design Competition. 🎉 Each year, Two Tribes and our Platform Bar come together to commission a new label design for beer brewed by the brand exclusively for CSM. Graphic Communication Design students are briefed to design a label that encapsulates life at the College. Taking inspiration from Two Tribes' values, Takaya explored the idea of students' inner 'wild sides' - the unique skills and experiences that individuals bring to, and develop at, CSM. Through interviewing her peers she uncovered diverse insights into the different approaches individuals take and the important qualities cultivated at the College. Running for a number of years, this repeat collaboration provides a brilliant opportunity for our students and results in graphic design that truly represents the community it serves. Thanks so much to everyone who works so hard on the collab including Ilenia Bombardi and Charley Wilson in the CSM Hospitality Team team and Two Tribes Brand Manager Kheira Walker , Marketing Manager Freddie Laker and Account Manager Jess Ayres. The can design is exclusively available at the CSM Platform Bar.
