Here is the promo:PATRÓN 360° will be the ultimate summer party complete with live DJ sets from Kiinjo. Surrounded by the luxurious and larger than life landscapes of Mexico. The immersive experience will bring guests along a journey of tradition and passion. With projection mapping technology, the dome interior will transform into a 360 immersive experience to call on all senses. Attendees will be whisked over fields of agave, then across the Mexican desert to indulge in a breathtaking sunset full of warmth and display of colors. Toronto: July 26 – 27, 2024 from 8:00 PM – 1:00 AMLink: www.patron360.caHere is the reality. Literally, a news item in the Inter American Dialogue today:"An explosion at a Jose Cuervo tequila plant in central Mexico killed at least five company workers and forced the evacuation of tourists from the area in the spirit's hometown of Tequila, the head of the state's emergency services said on Tuesday."Note from Sergio at Intelatin, LLC:I wish there was a way to square the life work done by the humble in Mexico to create such an enormous profit for the owners of brands like Jose Cuervo so that they can create immersive domes in Toronto for $35 per person about the "romance" of being in a place like Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico. I don't want to limit Mexico's romanticism in the world. (I push this romanticism all night long.) I don't want to limit Mexican brands ability to engage with high-technology. (I push this with holoportation throughout the Americas.) I was just saddened by this pairing of news items from this morning. A quote from an upcoming interview in my Prosperity series: "We have obligations that define what it means to be human. To live in kinship, to have reciprocity and with mutual care-giving. Our "Prosperity" is our authenticity to those obligations."#Intelatin #Mexico #Jalisco

Who remembers the lyrics: "I saw a deadhead sticker on a Cadillac, a little voice inside my head said, don't Look back, you can never look back!"It is interesting that after years of touring without Jerry Garcia, the Dead finally came back to life when they added a person that is essentially the anti-Jerry, John Mayer. Now, in my limited research of deadheads who also happen to be guitar geeks, everybody, and I do mean everybody is giving John Mayer's insipid pop-past-a-pass because he is a truly gifted guitar player. And I imagine that he at least brings youth to the performance too but now, on the eve of the Kennedy Center Honors, I can totally see a band meeting taking place where they decided that the photo for the inauguration would be best PRd without John Mayer. Still, despite the weird John Mayer dynamic, this feels like the end of the era when the headlining band for the counter-culture is being recognized by the federal government with Honors. In some States, I remember reading that folks are still serving life sentences for smoking herb at a dead show. What a long strange trip...#Intelatin

Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico (1950s)A wealthy gringo named Phillip McPherson moves to Cuernavaca. He meets my grandparents who begin to invite him to their parties. My grandparents took their lifestyle and their parties so seriously that they shipped off their three children to be raised by other members of the family in Mexico City, about two hours away from Cuernavaca. - McPherson had traveled the world and in his travels, he bought this guitar from Andrés Segovia. McPherson wouldn't make it to the 60s so I imagine that he gifted the guitar to my grandmother before he passed away. Cut to the 1980s and my grandmother's sister buys me my first acoustic nylon sixstring. I am 7 years old. I don't know exactly what to do with a guitar so it gets placed into a closet until I am in my teens. At around that time, my grandmother sees that I have begun playing guitar and she gives me this one too. I played this guitar for decades. I wrote most of my songs on this guitar. Receipts: https://lnkd.in/gBFVUeYM - It is the only guitar of the approximately (10) that I have owned that survived my teen years which is fortunate because I have purposefully broken and burned a few of my guitars with David Hada and the Laliahounds. Earlier this month, it broke and I was referred to a craft repairman in Newport Beach. He fixed it, cleaned it and then began to tell me things about the guitar that I never knew. For example, the tuners on my guitar were made in Ohio. That company, Grover, still exists and so I connected with them. They tell me that the tuners on my guitar are likely from the 1920s. Potentially making my guitar at least 100 years old. They said: "That is a treasure of an instrument!" The repairman also marveled. Said that he has repaired thousands of guitars and has never seen anything similarly built like mine. What is interesting to me now in 2024 is that nobody knew much about this guitar except that Segovia had played it. That's all anybody cared about. Nobody knew it was a Spruce top, Rosewood sides, Ebony fretboard, Ivory tuning pegs, Grover tuners, a brass tornavoz, a "fan bracing" structure. Nobody knew that it was potentially from the 1920s. Nobody cared that it left Spain, left Mexico and now lives in a case in a closet in a jungle cottage in California. Estimates on Reverb put this guitar in the tens of thousands if it were to be sold at auction.I've been thinking about it a lot now that my child is 7YO. I know for sure that he is too young to understand this instrument. I also know that I have a spare cheaper guitar from Paracho, Michoacán if he did suddenly gain interest. If something were to happen to my spare, I wouldn't have an emotional reaction. This guitar is one of my last bonds to my grandmother that I loved truly. My son never even got to meet her as she died before he was born. Time will tell.#Intelatin #Music #Guitars #AndresSegovia

A Perspective on Publishing (as it relates to me as a Producer)If you are Latina/o and you live in Los Angeles and you'd like to be featured in my series: smunoz@intelatin.com - - -Chicken Shop Dateoriginally began as a column written by a then 17-year-old for a local youth magazine. She meets acamera operator in 2014, whom she "convinced to help film one of her dates" and the firstChicken Shop Datevideo was uploaded toYouTube. It attracted just over one thousand views in the first two weeks. Each episode takes around forty minutes to film, but finished episodes last no longer than eight minutes. Then, cut to 2024 (10 years later) and this woman, Amelia Dimoldenberg, has the muscle and the popularity to secure Billie Eilish as a guest. 3.3M people have viewed it to-date on YouTube. Chapeau!- - -* I have been publishing feature interviews on Latina/os since 1996. I have interviewed six sitting Presidents of Latin American countries. Countless CEOs, actors, musicians, etc. Validation, validation, validation.* I have never ever been anywhere near the type of celebrity (JLo; Shakira; Selena Gomez) that would allow me to go even near 3.3M in viewership. Thus, I have never been able to have a staff to support my interviews. I write the interview, I film the interview, I edit the interview, I pitch the talent, I pitch the publishers. * I always show the talent what I am going to publish prior to publishing. I'm not in the business of gotcha "journalism" salivating for scandal. I am in the business of thoughtfully supporting and promoting Latina/os in the Americas. * I try my best to feature the best that I can reach in terms of validated talent but I also try to feature normal Latina/os. I want my "audience" to understand the totality of the Latina/o experience in the Americas. From Patagonia to Canada. And I don't ask my audience to subscribe or pay or create U/Ps. #Intelatin #Media #LatinAmerica #LosAngeles

This is Marty ChavezEssentially, without recapping his whole resume, at the most superficial level, this cat is beyond smart, beyond successful and mega rich and he was asked: What advice do you have for a parent with a young child? He answered that he too has young children and the best thing that he is doing for them is helping them speak perfect English, perfect Spanish and perfect Chinese. I love Neuroplasticity. I love thinking about things like: Dang, how do I take my Mexican brain and modify it to such a degree that I follow this dude's advice and invest asap into teaching my 7YO how to speak perfect Chinese. That I lobby my son's public school to support this Chinese initiative in a majority Latino school district. That I make it a priority. That I get his Spanish dominant grandparents (4x) to understand this "loco" initiative. Let's say I do all that. I change. They change. My 7YO changes. Then, what? He would become, over time, potentially by age 13, fluent in English, Spanish, Chinese and Hebrew. Then, its 2030, I am living in Balandra. What do I do with this genius 13YO child of mine? #Intelatin

Inside Banking aka "How Software Ate Finance"My first job in a "bank" was in the 90s at the Inter American Development Bank. But it was for the IADB's Credit Union. For the IADB's CU Online Portal. For the marketing layer of the IADB's CU Online portal and not the transaction layer. I would sit with the head of the CU and he would explain to me how he wanted the IADB's CU's Online Portal presence to read to the membership. I ended up having dozens of relationships like this and then I went to other sides of the banking ecosystem. Now, I work with a dozen techies on the transaction side. And all these years later, I am still fascinated by the technology of the transaction. And my role within the transaction. Last night, I was reading about Galileo Financial Technologies and their API for Fedwire. So, I went down the rabbit hole and it led to the image captured. A JSON string of code that defines the fields for the many different facets of the transaction. And even though I understand it at 30K feet, it still strikes me as strange that sending money from XA to XB requires all of this complexity. I also trip out on my role in activating these types of JSON strings. For example, when I want to send out one payment, if you could follow it in an animated movie, it requires close to 10 individuals before it even goes out. All of which are checking and rechecking that XA's data is accurate and XB's data is accurate. All of which are working in different systems. And all of it sort of gets taken for granted in the grand scheme of things that Marty Chavez re-quotes as the ''Collective Hallucination" of money.Listen to Marty Chavez on "How Software Ate Finance"Link: https://lnkd.in/gEXQSEeA#Intelatin
